Picking up your New 3 Aces Puppy
&
Visiting the ranch by appointment ONLY
I welcome all visitors and love to have folks come see my puppies however I ask everybody who comes to my Ranch to please follow these rules. I know that the 'WHY' might not be understood by some of you however please allow me to trust you as it is LIFE OR DEATH for all the puppies here in my home. Just by walking or driving in the wrong spot you and your car could pick up something like PARVO and kill all my babies. If the wrong bug is brought here all my babies will die and I will not be able to have any puppies for years! I do not mean to sound so harsh it is just VERY IMPORTANT that you respect what I am asking as I could not stand the heart ache of watching all my babies die. I love them all very much and want to protect them and I know you would want your puppy protected also. Many breeders have lost their whole kennel by people not taking heed of the knowledge given out. DO NOT visit my ranch if you are driving around puppy/kennel shopping. I would love to have you visit however each breeder should have separate days. Other breeders would appreciate the same respect. NO EXCEPTIONS
#1 DO NOT STOP at any rest stops, truck stops, fast food places, and if you do need to stop to use the restroom use the larger nicer restrants and DO NOT step in any grass or dirt ANYWHERE.
#2 Fill your gas tank the day before if not sooner so you will not have to stop at any gas stations on the way here. This is very important as E-one has to get gas and they ALL let their dogs out to go do their business at gas stations! Your car tires will bring Parvo to my property and it takes 2 years till it starts clearing. You will probably have to get gas on the way home so just use your instinct when picking where to stop.
#3 Wear clean clothing and I prefer new shoes that you do not put on till you are at the ranch. If they cannot be new please bring a spare set that you have not worn for a month or ran through the washer and not hit the ground at all and do not put them on till you are here. To be extra carefull put them in a plastic bag till you arrive at the ranch. And do not step out of your car till you have your new or sanitized shoes on. Keep both pair of shoes away from each other so they do not come in contact with each other. This will be a rule you follow the first few weeks at home also,,, leaving your daily outdoor shoes at the door away from your new puppy.
#4 DO NOT STOP at any pet stores or do ANY shopping of any kind. This includes Pet Smart, Walmart or any place where there is a large parking lot.
#5 DO NOT visit any PET STORES or PET SUPPLY stores 2 weeks before you come. Get your beds, toys and food long before you get your puppy. PRE-WASH and sanitize everything you get. PULL EVERYTHING FROM THE BACK OF SHELVE where hopefully it has not been touched by the other customers. Everyone who has a sick dog or puppy goes to these stores. A grown vaccinated dog can also just be a carrier and we all know the amount of dogs that go in and out of these fantastic stores.
#6 DO NOT GO to the pet GROOMERS 2 weeks before for all the same reasons. Have all your dogs at home groomed and beautiful to last at least a month after you bring your new baby home. This goes for the vets office also. The parking lot outside the vets office is always a high risk area. Ask your vet when it is finally safe to let your new puppy go 'PUBLIC'. I personally recommend you wait till after the series of shots are all DONE. Usually this is a total of 4 shots every 3 weeks, starting at 6 weeks. Your vet might have a different time frame so make sure you ask.
#7 DO NOT bring the whole family unless you have made previous arrangements with me on the phone. Children visit other children and those families have pets, and many folks go to school grounds to let their dogs run. I am sure you get my drift?
Click on the link below to see the map of where I am located, this is not where my house is but it will give you an idea of where you are going. If you zoom out on the map you will see where I am in comparision to where you are. When we make arrangments on the phone for you to come I will give you my address to mapquest, google maps and the newer GPS will have it.

You will receive a puppy pack that will have all your puppy's information and health contact. I take my time with you and explain everything I can think of to help you. You can also write a list of questions to ask me so we don't leave anything out. I am here to help you and will always be here through out your 3 Aces Puppy's life. You can call me with any questions even if it years from now. In the event you are not able to keep your dog I will take it back and find a new home for it. Please do not ever take any of my home grown babies to the shelter or a rescue house. I rasie dachshunds out of love not as a money tree. I take pride in all that I do and do it to it's best so you can feel good that you are getting not only a quality puppy, but a loved puppy who was bred with many years of thought and study. I do not do 'Lets see what we get' breedings.
JUST SOME INFO FOR YOU
You will receive this in your puppy pack also
Your puppy has been kept in an X-pen that has their bed, food and a potty pad in it. Or a doggy litter pan. If you go to work during the day this would be best way to keep him. Also If you are not going to sleep with him this is also a good idea. He will not be able to hold his Potty all night for a while. If you are sleeping with him and he wakes you up with kisses or any other way that means he has to go. He will (if kept in a small enough area) use the potty pad 99% of the time. Get yourself a potty training book and choose your favorite way to suit your home environment. Making his crate his special place for sleep and food is a good plan. Just make sure is a proper size which will be much smaller than you think. Never scold a younger puppy for having an accident. They will just think you are scolding them for going potty and will find a better hiding place. I have very good links on my resource page in my web site to address house training. Choose your house training according to your pups personality, some need to be a little older than others.
VERY IMPORTANT do not take him into pet smart or any pet store till he has finished his shot series at 3 months! Get all your toys, beds, foods, first or when he is not with you no matter how tempting it is. Parvo and Distemper float in the air so keep your baby at HOME and safe! NO DOG PARKS!!!!!
Things you will need:
Bed and / or crate. I have lots of little beds and hide outs for my dogs, they love to get into things and cat houses are awesome for them as long as they are floor level. They also like to burrow so blankets are good just be prepared to wash them regularly . Please read up on your new dachshund breed to understand the care you need to take for it’s back! No jumping or climbing any objects no matter how much fun they are having. Ramps are much better then stairs for your baby to use and will be better his entire life and help fight against future back problems.
Toys! Lots of them! They chew!!!!!!! No chew bones or rawhide as it will give them runny stool--- unless they are FDA approved. They love to play tug of war and especially with socks. LOL Also they like to play ball and love the ones with ropes attached. They also get tired of the same old toy so rotate and refresh them. Unless of course your pup chooses a favorite. Toys that squeak, sing or crackle are a favorite.
Puppies when going to a new home go through a stress period and may have runny and or bloody stool. This is referred to as coccida, it has a 14 day shedding cycle, so have some keopectate, Pepto or Imodium AD, rice, cottage cheese, jello, and things like that on hand before he gets there. Just like humans! This part of what the health guarantee refers to as environmental changes. If you pup has diarrhea is please take his food away and feed him rice and cottage cheese for a day or two. I cannot guarantee how a puppy is going to react to all the new changes. Also being alone before he comfortable in his new environment is not a good idea. Remember he is a baby and has not even been on earth very long and our Dashies have sensitive digestive systems. If these things do not work please take him to the vet as he might get dehydrated or other problems can occur. Your pup might be a sensitive little guy/girl and changes some times take a while. Love your pup but do not handle it to much (HINT CHILDREN) if you are having a loose stool problem. NO table scrapes--he will not know they exist unless you show him. Table scrapes are not good for your puppy or dog their whole life. What you are feeding him is very important. There are many new theories about feeding dogs and I leave it up to you to do what feel is right for your puppy.
You will be receiving what I am currently feeding and then you can mix with what ever you are going to use.
You can investigate dog foods on the web and choose one that fits what your standards and beliefs are. As you start studying them you will see what I mean. All things around him including his new water will inflame this.
Always call your puppy to you and never reach out or grab at it, they will be very willing to jump up into your arms. By reaching out, Chasing and Grabbing you will ruin him. Again please refer to a training guide.
Puppy proof the areas where he will be. Electric cords kill puppies every day. I have all mine taped up or not near the floor at all. His mouth is his hands! Anything he can reach is fair game and his!
You can always go to my web site to the resources page and get all the information you need to help you with all your questions.
http://www.3acesranchdachshunds.com/I hope I have answered some of your questions. Feel free to contact me if you need to. And don’t forget to get a training book to refer to as your baby goes through its growing stages. These sheet is only to get you started and please choose training methods that fit into your lifestyle and your pups personality.
REMEMBER “You don’t own a Dachshund---He owns you” LOL This statement is for entertainment only. If you give your pup the training he needs the first year of his life you will have a good dog the rest of his life. He will play when you want and cuddle when you want, he will make you happy and give you comfort when you need it the most. Take care of him and he will take care of you.
